Google has made a surprising progress by extending its market into smart mobile phones, rivalling the emergence of iPhone from Apple as a revolutionary phone. On Sep 23, Google and T-Mobile unveiled an Android phone, the first phone that has Android software from Google embedded in it. Like iPhone, this Android phone also has a large touch screen and it also features a full Web Browser with Wi-Fi connection. Besides that, Android phone also has online bazaar where users can download music, movies or even games from, which is very similar to Apple Application Store in iPhone. However, this move does not necessarily guarantee Google the success that Apple has seen from the sale of iPod. The most germane reason would be the fact that T-Mobile USA has fewer subcscribers of about 30 million, compared to AT&T, Apple’s partner in producing iPhone, which has about 70 million subscribers in total. Furthermore, experts also postulate that T-Mobile wireless networks are not as fast as that of AT&T, and therefore it will be less appealing to potential customers. But still, this new outreach is a strong testimony to the hegemony that Google yields in technology world.
