Virus through Facebook

If you are a user on the most popular networking site, Facebook, you have to be chary if someone sends you a video or an invitation to a group. Many Facebook users have already been fallen preys for Koobface, a virulent virus that is spread through Facebook. It is transmitted through a video, which will prompt the users to download a seemingly innocuous stuff. However, what you will download is a baleful malware that will harms your computer.

Now it is reported that the virus has also attacked shared videos on Google Reader RSS Feed and on Picasa, a popular photo-sharing website backed by Google. However, analysts say that it is hard to expurgate this virus because it has hijacked the user’s computers and therefore it can only be wiped out by the user himself. This conundrum has also sparked a discussion of whether Facebook’s business will be adversely affected just because of this simple yet dangerous virus.

No more Nokia handphones in Japan

Nokia has decided to step out of Japan’s market industry. The surprising announcement came this week, and the decision itself had been deeply contemplated by Nokia executives. However, Nokia will still thrive to continue introducing the lavish Vertu brand into Japan’s market. The main reason underlying the decision is because although Japan is the biggest market for handphone in the world, it has proven to be a solid, impenetrable wall for many handphone giants. For example, Apple’s iPhone also did not manage to achieve its sales goal in Japan. Since 85 percent of Japan population has already possessed cell phones, then there is an inertia or reluctance for them to change their handphones. And coupled with the global economy debacle nowadays, Nokia feels that it is not under their interests to continue selling their brand in Japan, as it is rather unsustainable. Instead, Nokia says more attention would be given to another sector, which is to make home appliances connected to handphone. This means one will be able to turn on their TV or air-conditioners just by using their Nokia handphones.

High School Musical malwares

Be careful when you are downloading any files related to High School Musical 3, a popular movie that has been a hit especially for youths and children. Panda Security reports that there is a malware embedded in High School Musical related video clips and music, particularly those downloaded from peer-to-peer networks. The virus spreaders are also very astute, because this incident will target most of the novice users of Internet or computer, who are mostly kids below the age of 15, which will make the dissemination of the malware very effective.

A similar incident has also taken place in a gamut of video clips pertaining to Barack Obama, which also have malwares inside it. It is reported that this malware usually contains virus such as Agent.KGR Trojan, an adware called KoolBar, and many other harmful codes. To tackle this problem, Internet users are encouraged to always check the file extension, because a .exe file may launch a pernicious virus when ran.

You do not need torrent anymore when it comes to downloading movies. Neither do you need to go to your favourite DVD shops to get to watch your coveted movies. You will just need to visit YouTube for all that. Yes, YouTube is preparing to offer its dearest visitors with full-length box office movies, thanks to its parent company, Google, which has been continuously talking to major entertainment companies for the deal. In return, YouTube will inser online advertisements in the movie, and therefore it gains revenue from them. However the bad news is so far not all studios give YouTube a green light. For example, the Canadian company Lionsgate only give YouTube short movie clips.

One thing for sure is that YouTube will be a gigantic challenge to Hulu, a site that is already offering Netizens with streaming full-length movie. And what is worrying for Hulu is because of something that YouTube has but Hulu doesn’t; nearly 80 million monthly visitors. With this popularity, it would be very hard for Hulu to compete with YouTube in streaming, ad-supported movies.

Next release of Windows : Windows 7

The next version of Windows after Windows Vista is to be named Windows 7, general manager Mike Nash said. The reason of the numeric naming is basically because of simplicity reason and it is logical to name it Windows 7 as it is the seventh release of Windows, Nash wrote on his blog. This new Windows 7 is expected to be available at the market at late 2009 or early 2010. However, although the name is already unveiled now, which is about 1 year before its release, there is still very few details about this new Operating System. In a May Interview, it is reported that Windows 7 will still be using the same driver structure and underpinnings that have been used for Windows Vista. About the software, many software creators has also discussed about the rumour that Windows 7 will have multitouch capability to enhance user interactions. However, most people have very little knowledge and it seems that Windows 7 will only unveil its surprising features nearer to its date of release.
